Fantasy and Science Fiction from Christian Authors
The Echoes of Empyrean periodical exists for one purpose: to spread the Fire of Creation – both subcreation (stories of the imagination) and recreation (sharing the Story of the Gospel from the Author of life itself). But we don’t feature what you might think of as “traditional” Christian writers. The works published here are not in the “Christian” genre. Our stories are Fantasy and Science Fiction. They are not allegory. Don’t look for Christ figures. Don’t expect safe, sanitized, sterile stories. Expect heroism. Expect depravity. Expect joy and sorrow. Expect… life.
Wait… So What Makes This a “Christian” Publication?
For a full, explanation, be sure to check out the full article on our About page, but here is the short answer: EoE…
1) Publishes stories written by Christian writers to help encourage those searching to honor God in their craft by writing stories that support a mindset rooted in Philippians 4:8.
2) Helps directly support missionaries sharing the Gospel by donating 10% of the magazine’s gross profit to missionaries spreading the Greatest Story ever told (Leviticus 27:30-34, Romans 10:14).
3) We operate from a Christian mindset, and thus believe in paying workers fairly for their wages (James 5:4). After the 10% tithe, the remaining gross profit is split 50:50 between the contributors and magazine itself. This may makes us a bit slower to become profitable, but it is fair, and it means as we grow, so do the writers EoE depends on.
4) We humbly submit our craft to God, knowing that in His Grace, anything we offer Him, He takes, unworthy as it is, and uses it for His Kingdom. We believe creators in the arts are imitating the Creator as we are called to do, using our talents to serve Him, so we seek to encourage the growth of Christian subcreators so that they can do so the best of their ability (Ecclesiastes 9:10, 1 Corinthians 10:31).
